Events & activities

There are many ways to get involved in the life of St. Swithin's Church.

Planning a wedding? Wanting to give the children a grounding in the Christian faith? Needing a venue for a party or function? Have a look at the different areas of ministry and church life below to see how we can help.

We would love to talk to you about getting married at St. Swithin's! You don't have to be a regular church go-er and you don't even have to live in the parish to get married here. There are some important legal and pastoral things to talk about first but we'll do everything we can to welcome you and help you start your big day with a proper Church wedding!

Church Hall hire

Our Church Hall was opened in January 2011 by the Duke of Devonshire and the Bishop of Derby. It replaced the old Church Hall on Main Road and is a tremendous asset to the Church and Village.

The Church Hall is available for functions such as Baptism Parties, Wedding Receptions, Birthday Parties, Funeral Teas, Talks, Conferences and other functions.

Caring Child

Children should feel at ease and at home in St. Swithin's. We have a strong connection to our local village school, Penny Acres Primary, and our thriving J-Zone (Jesus Zone) after-school club draws many of its children from there, as well as attracting others from further afield. To find out more about this group contact our children's worker on 01246 412328.

St Swithin's Toddler Group will start meeting on Thursday mornings later this year, moving to the new location of our Church Hall. For more information contact Christine on 0114 289 1402

Christening (baptism) and Thanksgiving Services

For baptism enquiries, please call the Parish Office: 21 Church Street, Dronfield, Tel. 01246 412328. Opening hours  Monday-Friday 9.30-2.00 pm.

If you are not regular church go-ers it makes more sense for you to consider having a special service called 'Thanksgiving for the gift of a child' instead. We'd be delighted to help you plan your ceremony. And why not book the linked Church Hall for the party afterwards?
